Vitamin B12 is required for proper red blood cell formation, neurological function, and DNA. It is commonly believed that But as vitamin B12 is not found naturally in foods such as fruit, vegetables and grains, but if we eat our food right – vegans, vegetarian families can easily get the required dose. recommend taking a B12 supplement and consuming more foods fortified with vitamin B12. Nutritionists recommend that all adults get at least 2.4 micrograms per day of vitamin B12.

Women who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant should get at least 400 micrograms (0.4 milligrams) of folic acid daily. Folic acid is the human-made version of folate, a B vitamin that plays several roles in the body.
