Wellness seems distant and unattainable sometimes, like a never-ending road trip with a persistent question: “Are we there yet?”
I’ve asked myself that question many times: Am I there yet – in my journey toward true wellness?
Over the years, I’ve realized that wellness isn’t a finish line. It’s a living, breathing process – one that changes as we change. My journey began years ago when my health nudged me to look deeper – to understand that food, mind, and movement are all deeply connected.
That’s how whole foods, mindful living, millets and WholesomeTales entered my life – not as trends, but as teachers. Slowly, I discovered that our kitchen is not just a place to cook, but a laboratory of transformation. Every choice made there has the power to heal or harm.
What Wellness Looks Like (For Me)
For me, wellness is about small, consistent actions – tiny rituals that shape bigger transformations. Some days it looks like rolling out my yoga mat or taking a mindful walk; other days, it’s simply sipping warm tea or spending time tending to my plants.
I’ve had my share of ups and downs – days when anxiety, fatigue, or overthinking took center stage. But I’ve also seen how the right food, gentle movement, and a calm mind can shift everything.
The biggest lesson? Wellness is not a goal; it’s a practice.
You don’t “arrive.” You live it, moment by moment.
My Everyday Wellness Habits
These are some anchors that help me stay grounded and balanced through busy days:
- 🧘♀️ Yoga at least four times a week – tuning into how my body feels, not how it looks
- 🥗 Mindful eating – eating before 8 PM, focusing on local, seasonal, and millet-based meals
- 💪 Strength training – twice a week to feel strong and capable in my 40s
- 🌸 Nature time – tending to my plants or taking slow walks
- ✍️ Creative expression – writing, coding, teaching, recipe journaling, or experimenting in the kitchen
- 💛 Digital detox & sleep ritual – slowing down with calming music and reading
- 🌅 Sleep Time journaling or reflection – grounding myself with gratitude or intention
The Practices That Keep Me Centered
Even with these habits, I have my imperfect days. But I remind myself – progress is not linear.
Sometimes, wellness means doing yoga.
Other times, it means simply doing nothing – just breathing, observing, being.
There are moments when I skip a workout or indulge in comfort food, and instead of guilt, I try to bring in compassion. Because self-kindness is also part of health.

What I’m Working On..

I’m learning to:
- Get moving in a fun way – stroll, stretch, or groove instead of just “working out”
- Chill outside more, soak up the sun, and play in the dirt
- Work on my breathwork game
- Keep it simple – sustainable wellness is all about doing less, but doing it mindfully
My Takeaway
I’ve come a long way from where I began.
The journey taught me that food can be medicine, but so can movement, mindset, and meaningful connections.
Wellness, to me, is not perfection – it’s presence.
It’s showing up for yourself again and again with patience and care.
And it’s remembering that even the tiniest millet grain – or a small tomato from your garden – holds a story of growth, effort, and resilience.

So no, I’m not “there” yet.
But I’m on the way – and maybe, that’s exactly where I meant to be.
Would love to hear from you..
What does wellness look like for you today?
It doesn’t have to be grand – maybe it’s just drinking water mindfully or taking a deep breath before your next meal.
Share your story, your experiments, your reflections.
Because just like our health journeys, we’re all learning, growing, and healing – one mindful step at a time.
